Imagine… the world will be one“, sang John Lennon, für ihn war Einheit nur unter Ausschaltung von Religion erreichbar. Diesen Wunsch nach Einheit hat Gott in seine Geschöpfe hineingelegt. Sie haben sie im Sündenfall verloren und seit dem Turmbau zu Babel immer wieder vergeblich versucht, sie mit menschlichen Mitteln zu erreichen („we have never seemed to be more united – but on the personal and spirtual level, we’re as divided as ever“).
In einer Bibelarbeit mit Vaughan Roberts haben wir anhand von Epheser 4, 1-6 diskutiert, auf welche Weise Gott in Christus die verlorene Einheit wieder herstellt und wie die Gemeinde Jesu heute Einheit (er)lebt.
Jesus hat in Johannes 17 einmal gesagt, dass die Welt an der Einheit seiner Nachfolger erkennen würde, dass sie tatsächlich ihm nachfolgen. Auf den ersten Blick macht die weltweite Kirche Jesu einen anderen Eindruck. Vaughan: „God’s kind of unity seems unimpressive (small local churches scattered throughout the planet), but it’s a foretaste of the unity of everything in God to come“
Vaughan benennt dann zwei praktische Voraussetzungen für die Einheit, von der Paulus in Epheser 4 schreibt:
1. Ausleben der Berufung Gottes für seine Gemeinde (V 1+2)
„Unity begins not with comissions or congresses but the daily battle against my personal sin in local churches, striving to live in humility and love […] Love for thos who are like us is ordinary. Love for those who are unlike us is extraordinary. Love for those who dislike us is revolutionary.“
2. Betonung und Verkündigung von Gottes Wort (V 11+12)
„Unity must not marginalizes doctrinal truth. The church must resist the uncontrollable urge to merge […] When humans freeze water, they make icecubes, every one like the other. When God freezes water, he makes snow flakes, no one exactly like the other“
Dabei ist biblische Lehre kein Mittel zur Auseinandersetzung sondern zum Aufbau der Gemeinde und zur Förderung der geistlichen Reife ihrer Mitglieder:
„The church does not thrive on the words of the pastor – it thrives on the word of God […] Many churches are childish. There’s a famine of the word of God in the world – and in the church […]Truth is not a weapon. Some people like to fight a fight way too much.“
Und auch meine Tischgruppe – meine geistliche Familie für eine Woche – hat zum Thema „Einheit“ wichtige Gedanken beizusteuern:

„Unity is about being, not acting“ – Ong, Malaysia
Einheit in der Gemeinde Jesu – es bleibt einweltweites Spamnungsfeld. Aber jeder Mann und jede Frau die Jesus nachfolgen haben einen Anfangspunkt, Einheit im Sinn von Jesus zu leben die nach außen sichtbar und doch nicht menschengemacht ist: sein bzw. ihr ganz persönliches Umfeld.
